Fowler's level 7 is too "heroic" (with ex such as Mother Theresa, Mandela and others), perhaps Fowler is influenced by the Christ figure?
Bergstrand (1990) emphasizes that people in the seventh stage must be separated from those he characterizes as fanatics. The similarities are only apparent. They fight, but not for the good of humanity, but for their group and for their own interests. My impression is that greater precision is needed if one is to succeed in identifying even the kind of individualistic, disorganized or semi-organized and perhaps narcissistic, spirituality that NA stimulates.
