2-Adversarial (ASIMC 1-5, quoted Fowler, et al.)

Deal with absolute greats in a concrete way. There is objectively "good" and "bad", etc., "perfect" and "reprehensible, primitive".

Idealization/devaluation in the ordinary world, even among ordinary people (not just Christ)

"Perfect individuals." There are perfect individuals (Fowler, for his part, puts some effort into describing that those who populate his highest stage ("Universializing") are not perfect, they have their flaws, etc.) There are perfect individuals who have become it by their own power, whose disciple one can become. There is perfect, selfless love. Utopia is not unattainable, but a rather met description of the coming kingdom of peace.

"Adolescens and beyond (Fowler)." "Has its rise and ascendancy in adolescense but for many adults it becomes a permanent place of equilibrium" (in Conn)

The ends justify the means, difficult compromise, compromise is seen as weakness.

"Preterm mysticism." Dissociative or evasive meditation… At this level, a preterm mysticism is possible, which is more about withdrawing, via meditation or physical seclusion. Narcissistic inflation, which is really very tiring.

"Easy distortion of reality." Devaluation: Some are bad, plain, unsusced (but can still be exploited or kept as friends, as they do not threaten the inner balance of electricity activates more difficult emotions)

Idealization worship of guru, leader among others, but also inter-personally (the individual has few modes when judging others – above or below)

Omnipotens have "abilities", intended for great things (of which the New Age provides a menu), omnism

Typical defenses:

** Inhibition level/Neurotic **

Displacement

Dissociation

Intellectualization dogmas, "teachings", beliefs

Affect insulation

  • Atheistic spirituality?
I wanted to write down some thoughts on “spirituality”… What do I think about with that? What attracts me? I don’t think I’m really interested in the subject in general. […]
  • A healthy faith in God?
It’s such a big subject, that perhaps you shouldn’t even bother with. A mystery you just should leave behind? It easily gets into an emotional war of positions between for or against. […]

This is very thoughtful. I myself have great respect for Sigmund Freud, his thoughts on when religion can get problematic, but I do think Jones has an interesting point. […]

Why is it that so many people within “New Age spirituality” end up wrong & at odds with consensus on – in short – all the burning issues? 😳 First there was the climate […]
  • How to be on the right side of history?
What does it mean to “be on the wrong side of history”? And what does it look like when you are? Is it the Left Party [former Communist party in Sweden] that does not want to agree to […]
  • Conflictualities
I sat and thought about something. Because of things I’m reading too, of course. How fair, ethical is it to diagnose presidents from afar? And to what extent is it useful? Attempts are of […]
